After two successful years in Ashton on Mersey, 80sFest tribute festival is back for a third year on Saturday, 14 July with this year’s nominated charity being The Mayor of Manchester’s Homeless Fund. Following on from headliners of U2 and David Bowie, 2018 sees the festival have top Smiths tribute These Smiths as headliners with full support from award winning tribute bands to The Jam, The Police, The Human League and Blondie. No 80sFest would be complete without the resident “house band”, 2 Rude Ska from Wales and, of course, regular music from our MC, Colin, between the acts.
We will also be welcoming back the Really Good Food Company with three bars along with a range of food stalls to feed the hungry crowd and, new for this year, a kiddies funfair to keep the little ones entertained.
We are delighted to announce that new community radio station Radio Urmston will be attending and will be talking to the bands and crowd and broadcasting live on air at points throughout the day.
Last year the family friendly event saw brilliant blue skies and three marriage proposals on the field during the day so the organisers are crossing their fingers for good weather this year. Gates open at 12.30 pm with a curfew of 10 pm for a full day of 80s music.
