Student ballet company Ballet Central are performing for the first time in Sale.
The company will be performing at the Waterside on Saturday 11th May at 7.30pm. It’s a one night only show, a chance to see a varied repertoire of different dance styles from the glamour of Carousel Dances (based on the musical Carousel) to the haunting House of Birds based on the Grimm Brothers’ macabre fairy tale, Jorinda and Joringel, all performed by the future stars of professional dance.
It’s an inexpensive but hugely enjoyable night out, suitable for adults and young people (especially those considering a career in ballet or professional dance) ticket prices are £14.0, £12.00 (concessions). Tickets available from the Waterside.
One of the Ballet Central dancers is from nearby Macclesfield - Sophia Lyon, age 18, and can talk about what it’s like to train to be a professional dancer at this level. All the dancers are in the third year of a three year BA (Hons) degree course at Central School of Ballet in London – one of Europe’s leading organisations for professional ballet training - and they join Ballet Central for a nationwide tour to gain invaluable experience very often leading to jobs.
It’s a chance for the student dancers to get jobs too - the top choreographers and directors watch Ballet Central performances across the UK to spot the best new dance talent.
Ballet Central has already performed 15 sold-out shows of The Nutcracker at the ADC Theatre in Cambridge and at the British Museum in December. Adding an international date to the 2019 Ballet Central tour in Tokyo, Japan demonstrates the increasing popularity of the Company’s theatrical dance performances.
